DuPont Tyvek

PACKAGING INDUSTRY

In the packaging industry nonwovens are used for different purposes: protection, filtration or a combination of the two.

DuPont™ Tyvek®

DuPont™ Tyvek® is made of 100% high-density polyethylene (HDPE) fibres. It is manufactured by first spinning very thin, endless fibers, which are then bonded together by means of heat and pressure. As a result, Tyvek® is a fabric that ‘breathes’ but that is still strong enough to serve as protection. The Tyvek® styles 1443R and 1622E are the perfect protection for the packaging and transport of (historical) objects of art, paintings, for which it is important that air and moisture circulation remains possible in spite of the protective packaging. Museums all over the world use Tyvek® Styles 1443R and 1622E for this purpose.

Decofleur®

Decofleur® is a 100% polypropylene spunbonded nonwoven, especially developed as a packaging material for flowers or gifts etc. or as a decorative material.
The advantages of Decofleur® are:

  • colourfast
  • permeable to water and air
  • easy to process
  • available in many colours

Plastic film with air bubbles and an adhesive layer

Especially developed to combine the protective function with ease of use. As the adhesive layer does not leave any residues, this product is used, for instance, by removals companies for temporary protection of door frames when pieces of furniture are being carried in or out through doorways. This bubble film is also used to line the inside of boxes in order to obtain a soft protective layer.
In addition to these four specific products, King Nonwovens B.V. has a large number of other nonwovens in its product range that may also serve as packaging material.
